Rufa Mae Quinto explains ‘billing issue’

THE premiere night of “Pasukob” last Monday at SM Megamall was jampacked with people who were all roaring with laughter because of the crazy antics of Ai Ai de las Alas and Rufa Mae Quinto. The funniest scene for us is the opening scene involving Eugene Domingo. She plays the mother of the young Ai Ai de las Alas and Rufa Mae Quinto.

She’s about to escape with her two kids in a banca but Debraliz Valasote accosted her with the townspeople saying she’s a “salot” to their town. Eugene then fights with all the men in the village and she proves to be a martial arts expert who licks them all easily. Some of her fights scenes were given an ala-Matrix treatment and they’re so funny.

Eugene and her daughters were able to escape but at sea, their banca was hit by lightning and they get separated. This is where the conflict begins. Julia (Ai Ai) grew up to be a mega-taxi driver while Jenny (Rufa Mae) was adopted by a rich couple and works in a call center. Their fates are intertwined as they always end up meeting each other, even on the day of their respective weddings: Ai Ai to Antonio Aquitania and Rufa Mae to DJ Durano. This is where the spoof of the hit horror flick, “Sukob”, comes in, but Director Wenn Deramas makes his movie also a spoof of “Kampanerang Kuba” (which he megged on TV), as well as “Feng Shui” and “Wag Kang Lili-ngon”.

We asked Rufa Mae if she really made “Pasukob” her priority than “Desperadas” when she’s supposed to dub for these two movies, prompting her to walk out on “Desperadas”? “Yes, dahil showing na nga itong ‘Pasukob’, siyempre ito ang nira-rush namin. When I went to the studio, ito talaga ang ipinunta ko and when they found out I was there, i-dub ko na rin daw ang trailer ng ‘Desperadas’. Kaso nga, I’m still dubbing my lines in my role as Fifi, the dog sa ‘Marimar’. E, puro sigaw na ako sa ‘Pasukob’, tapos aso pa ko sa ‘Marimar’, so namaos na ako, kaya hindi ako na kayang gawin pa ang ‘Desperadas’. It’s not because I’m objecting sa billing ko in ‘Desperadas’. For me, in the last analysis, hindi naman billing mo ang matatandaan ng tao but your performance. So mas mabuting paghusayan mo ang acting mo kaysa mag-worry ka about billing.” [source of news]
