John at Eagle may away

Clad in a high school principal’s getup, John Lapus served as the “butcheress” in last Sunday’s All Star K! Ang mga guests ng episode na ’yon are familiar gay characters in comedy bars, including colleague Rey Pumaloy, dressed in school uniforms with their fancy, colorful wigs.

Cute ang concept, lalo pa’t in two weeks’ time ay magbubukas na ang eskuwela. For a while, I pretended to like John. I was forcing myself to laugh at his spiels, na obviously naman ay scripted. Ilang beses nahuhuli ng kamera ang pagtingin-tingin niya sa script, that the absence of it would make John the first to be butchered by himself!

Sorry, but John’s humor is really bad. Or to begin with, meron nga bang humor? Or mas kinakikitaan ng galing si John sa department of ‘rumor,’ such is his stint in Showbiz Central?

Nu’ng nila-line up pa lang pala ang mga guests sa All Star K! episode na ’yon, one of those who was considered was Eagle Riggs. Since alam naman ni Eagle ang format ng show, inalam muna niya kung sino ang tatayong mangangatay.

When told na si John ’yon, Eagle did not confirm his guesting.

Eagle specifically made reference to my column here in PSN, kung saan nakatikim tuloy ng diretsahang talak si John mula kay Rommel. “Kung si John din lang ang mangangatay, hindi bale na lang,” sey ni Eagle as his way of politely turning down the guesting.

Oo nga naman, between Eagle and John, who’s the bigger GMA talent? Bagama’t pareho naman silang galing sa ABS-CBN, sino’ng mas senior? Sino ang mas nag-iwan ng magandang alaala sa pinanggalingan nilang istasyon? To top it all, sino ang mas tunay na Kapuso?

I am not here to fan the embers of animosity between Eagle and John, puwede pa ’yung animosity ni John towards me! Eagle is with the News & Public Affairs while John is with the Production. Kung tutuusin, may heart should go out to John since we belong to the same department.

But John’s friendly ties are not built from within, so what gives him the slightest impression that he stands to gain friends from without?

For sure, aware si John in his heart of hearts that his crossover was not exactly 100% welcome news. It takes a good sense of self-reevaluation.

Kaya, don’t lie to yourself, John.
