Binibining Pandesal?

HAS the Philippines ran out of beauties that would represent our country in different countries?

As of today, we already know who goes to world, international and universe via television network GMA 7 last night. But is this group good enough?

Year after year some time ago, the Philippines is one of those countries which other countries seem to get worried about when it comes to beauty contests.

Most of these women came from Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant. There is one pullover of the last two year’s Binibining Pilipinas, Abigail Cruz, as she too joined Mutya some time ago and two more in this batch alone. It’s nice to see the stunner in Aby never quit her dreams.

But whatever happened to resigned Mutya of 2007 Zara Aldana? It was reported that she too tried to join this batch; but she didn’t make it due to “sungki daw ang ngipin.” But she was the only one whom Ms. Stella Marquez invited to take a closer look. Beat that.

Are most of the true lovely women in the country hesitant to join such beauty contests nowadays?

It’s sad to see some contestants seek enhancements to follow trends nowadays. Can’t they respect natural beauty all along?

We are observant that we see some of the candidates doing a repeat of their past feats. And some are beautiful though as we recall, are laughed at.

Of course, they also look for brainy women, but what about considering the physical attributes first which has the capability of making it in the top 10 or 12?

After all, it’s still a beauty pageant.

Indeed it may be funny, but we are not focusing on the task at hand. We are losing to countries like India and even China who are now rising to compile their beauty titlists.

But we still ask this year after year, are they going to be the real Binibining Pilipinas to make it out or just be another binibining pandesal?
