Ogie Alcasid in OMG

This might be the last time the public will be seeing Ogie Alcasid in drag. You know, in OMG (Oh My Girl!) which is Regal Films’ 50th-anniversary (actually next month yet) offering opening nationwide on Wednesday, July 29.

In the romance-comedy inspired by the Hollywood hits Mrs. Doubtfire (starring Robin Williams) and Tootsie (Dustin Hoffman), Ogie disguises himself as a woman so he can be close to co-star Judy Ann “Juday” Santos who plays a famous actress for whom Ogie works as a personal assistant. He has to do it so he can rekindle the childhood old flame between them.

“I don’t want to be typecast,” said Ogie whose first movie “drag” or cross-dresser role was in Desperadas 2, Regal’s Metro Filmfest entry in December last year. He does it in the GMA gag show Bubble Gang with Michael V (also his “drag” partner in the same station’s daily show Hole in The Wall) but enough (in movies) is enough. “Baka matuluyan ako,” Ogie said in jest. Well, who can tell?

Directed by Dante Nico Garcia (Juday’s good friend who directed her in Ploning which she herself produced), OMG is a harmless flick (also starring Manilyn Reynes, Roderick Paulate, Carmi Martin, John Prats, Sheena Halili, Jon Avila, Carlo Aquino and Frenchie Dy, plus Sharon Cuneta in a cameo).

“No love scene, no kissing scene, no nothing,” is how Ogie described it. “Fun movie lang talaga.”

Ogie and his beloved Regine Velasquez are very good friends with Juday and her husband Ryan Agoncillo. In the following Conversation conducted separately, Juday and Ogie discussed not OMG but wedding bells and wedding blues. Juday has just gotten married and Ogie, hopefully, is about to be.
