Bong: It's Panday for 2011 MMF

With the unprecedented box-office success of Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote, his first team-up with Vic Sotto, which continues to rake in more millions at the ongoing 2010 Metro Manila Filmfest which last until Jan. 7, Bong Revilla is expected to do a follow-up also with Vic in next year’s MMFF but unfortunately he has already decided on doing another Panday as the family-owned Imus Productions’ entry (possibly with a co-producer).

“Even before the (2010) MMFF,” said Bong during a victory party with the press Thursday night, “I already announced that Panday would be ‘it.’ Vic also has his own plan to this year’s MMFF, so if ever, our next team-up would before the 2012 MMFF.”

Agimat has made history by being the first Filipino movie to have made the highest opening gross at P31M. So far, it has grossed P131,213,092M and is predicted to make even more until the end of the nationwide MMFF and beyond (on its extended run).

The target gross of the MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority), which is in-charge of the MMFF, is P.5B and I think half of that, if not even more, will come from the earnings of Agimat.

Bong inherited the Agimat character from his father, former Sen. Ramon Revilla Sr. Likewise, he also inherited the Panday character (a creation of Komiks King/National Artist Carlo J. Caparas) from his Ninong Ronnie, Da King Fernando Poe Jr. no less.

“Agimat and Panday are the best gifts I have ever received in my entire career,” admitted Bong. “That’s why I’m taking care of them so that I won’t let my Dad and my Ninong down.”

Agimat is co-produced by Imus Productions and Vic’s M-ZET Productions with OctoArts Films, GMA Films and APT Productions.

How will they divide the money?

50/50 between Bong and Vic and 25 percent for each of the three co-producers.
