Pia Guanio will stay in Eat, Bulaga!

Yes, it’s true that she’s marrying her non-showbiz businessman-boyfriend (of barely one year), Pia Guanio wouldn’t comment beyond that. To borrow Maurice Arcache’s favorite line, her lips are sealed — so far.

Funfare knows that Pia is already making a list of their principal sponsors (one of them Mike Enriquez) and secondary sponsors.

Asked if it’s true that she and her fiancé are considering Vic Sotto, Pia’s ex-boyfriend, as Best Man, Pia was mum. But why not? She and Vic have become good friends after they broke up in July last year, haven’t they?

But one thing is sure. Even after the wedding (date to be announced soon), Pia will stay on as one of Eat, Bulaga’s! co-hosts.

“She loves the show so much to leave it,” said somebody close to Pia. “She loves Mr. T (Tony Tuviera, Bulaga! producer) and Malou (Choa-Fagar, executive producer) so much for her to leave the show.”

It’s a good assurance for followers of the show (this one included). Contrary to suspicions, Pia’s stint on Bulaga! was not co-terminus with her romance with Vic (they went steady for more than seven years), unlike those of Vic’s romance(s) with previous co-hosts who quit the show when they (separately, of course!) parted with Vic.

Up to now, Pia and Vic look good together on the show, proving to all and sundry that they can draw a line between the personal and the professional — you know, trabaho lang po, walang personalan.

Funfare texted Vic for his reaction to Pia’s impending wedding and whether he would say yes if asked to be the Best Man but, true to form, he didn’t text back. Mum, as usual. But I didn’t take it to mean that he’s hurting. Knowing Vic, I’m sure he can easily find his own new happiness.
